Sangat in Khaddor
Baba Budha Ji came into the barn and bowed in front of Guru Angad Saheb. Guru Angad Saheb was happy to see Baba Budha Ji and told him to ask for anything he wanted. Baba Budha Ji asked, “Please come out of this room and meet the public. Instruct us on how to be saved.”
Guru Angad replied with the following hymn:
sloku mÚ 2
dIiKAw AwiK buJwieAw isPqI sic smyau ]
iqn kau ikAw aupdysIAY ijn guru nwnk dyau ]1]
Translation:
Those who have accepted the Guru's Teachings, and who have found the path, remain absorbed in the Praises of the True Lord. What teachings can I give to those who have the Divine Guru Nanak as their Guru?
But Baba Budha Ji insisted, so Guru Angad Saheb came out of his seclusion. When the Sikhs found out that Guru Angad had come out, crowds of them started to come and see the Guru.
The Guru started sangat (congregation) in Khadoor. Every day there was kirtan (singing of hymns), Katha (sermons), and meditation.
Just like Guru Nanak, the second master would rise in the early hours and take a bath and meditate. Then their would be singing of the sacred Aasa Ki Vaar and then Guru Angad Saheb would give a sermon (katha) to the sangat.
There was a free kitchen (langar) set up where anyone could come and eat. During the day Guru Angad himself use to teach the children Gurmukhi (Indian language). Guru Angad Saheb is the one who created the Gurmukhi language, many of the hymns in Guru Granth Saheb Ji are written in Gurmukhi.
In the afternoons, the Guru would watch wrestling matches. Then in the evening, Bhai Sutta and Balwand (famous musicians) would do kirtan (sing hymns). Then the sacred hymn of Reheras was read.
